By staying vigilant, verifying email senders, being cautious with links and attachments, and promptly reporting suspicious emails, we can protect ourselves and our sensitive information. How to Identify Phishing Emails:
- Generic Greetings: Be wary of emails that start with generic greetings like “Dear Customer” instead of your name.
- Poor Grammar and Spelling: Legitimate companies proofread their communications. Emails with glaring typos or odd phrasing can be a red flag.
- Urgent or Threatening Language: Phishing emails often create a sense of urgency or use threatening language to prompt immediate action.
- Suspicious Links and Attachments: Hover over links to check the actual URL before clicking. Be cautious with unexpected attachments.
- Unusual Sender Address: Check if the sender’s email address matches the domain of the company they claim to represent.
How to Report Phishing Emails:.
- Do not click any links or open attachments in the suspicious email.
- Forward the email to our IT department at [IT Department Email Address].
- Include any relevant details about the email, such as when you received it and any actions you may have taken.
- Delete the suspicious email from your inbox after reporting it.
